CHALLENGE
Because of the pandemic, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass had to cancel an annual in-person event they relied on to support their programs. Rather than let this setback negatively impact their work, they decided to host a virtual peer-to-peer fundraiser. However, they lacked
a platform to raise funds and only had six weeks to find a platform and get trained. With Qgiv they were able to get trained, plan their event, and recruit event participants in enough time to make their fundraiser successful.
SOLUTION
Development staff at Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass got to work setting up their event page and recruiting participants for their Givers & Gamers event. They paired Qgiv’s peer-to-peer tools with livestreaming software so gamers could raise funds while playing games. Gamers had their own personal fundraising pages and could send links to their specific page to their family, friends, and fans.
RESULTS
Their event was a tremendous success. Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass reached 122% of their $5,000 fundraising goal. Their top fundraiser, a teenage boy, raised more than $1,600 for their cause.
